Why headlights go yellow and hazy

Headlight lenses on most modern vehicles are plastic, and they spend their whole lives pointed at the sun and the road. Years of sun dull and yellow the surface. Road grit does the rest — the fine stuff that comes off gravel shoulders year-round, arriving at highway speed and landing on the front of the vehicle first.

A cloudy lens makes the whole front end look older than it is, and it does not let as much light through as a clear one.

The lenses are cleaned and polished. What a lens comes back to depends on how far gone it is, so send a photo if you want an honest answer before you book.

If you are already booking an exterior detail or paint correction, there is no need to book this separately — headlights and taillights are cleaned and polished as part of both. Headlight polishing on its own is for when the lenses are the only thing bothering you.
